Are You Location Independant?

Posted on : 05-06-2009 | By : Danielle | In : Freelancing

I’ve been reading some of the blog posts of the Location Independent Group Writing Project and really enjoying them.  I especially enjoyed Cody McKibben’s entry on his take on it.

Work-life balance and (attempts at) self-management are two of the most important elements of how I live my life. It’s important to me to spend my very limited time here doing things that make a difference and that make me happy, rather than simply sinking all of my time into a job and playing the normal game of “delayed gratification” like a majority of people do (I think they call it “retirement”).

The Challenges and Rewards of Living Adventurously

Read the rest of the entry and you will be truly inspired!

While I’ve come to terms with the fact that this is not something I can do right now (kids in school, wanting to give them stability and financial security) it  has made me think about my dream a lot today.  When the kids are grown up and (hopefully) out of the house I want to buy a mobile  home and travel where ever the mood takes us (me and my hubby) and just live a nomadic lifestyle.  If I’d known that people could actually live that kind of life 20 years ago I dare say my life would be different.  But then I wouldn’t be who I am.

blog-honeymoon-350I have this thing about water – I want to be by water all the time and right now I’m not – so I want to travel in my mobile home and park by water all the time.  Lakes and oceans all over the States and Canada.  I guess we’ll have to travel inland to see family a couple times a year but … that’s my dream.

Having read some of the Independent Location post, I’m inspired.  I think I really can do it.  And I’m really looking forward to it.

Hey Danielle! I’m ecstatic that my writing has helped inspired you on your nomadic journey! :)

You should join us at the Location Independent club on Ning (http://locationindependentclub.ning.com/) and check out Technomadia.com if you’re interested in traveling the States by mobile home.

Thanks for the post!

Thanks Cody – will definitely check it out. I’m quite a ways away from my goal though.
