…until today that is.
I’ve considered myself a professional writer before now, of course. But I’ve had a fascination with social media for quite awhile and I’d considered myself an amateur until now. But today, I signed up with HootSuite and realized that social media means more to me than I thought it did. I’m not sure if I consider myself a pro at this point. But definitely no longer and amateur.
I started handling a Twitter account and two Facebook pages for the school I work at. January was the start of a lot of new things for our school and this was just one of them. I was really excited to be part of this. Now, a second Twitter account is being added into the mix and I’m working on getting several other team members at the school on board. If all goes well, by next month I’ll have 6 more people in the school with Twitter accounts and they will be using them to recruit businesses to work with us and students to attend the school. And yes, I’ll have them all set up on HootSuite so that they can take full advantage of all the services it has to offer.
As much as I love freelance writing, I am finding that I truly love social media, too. I gobble it up like a kid with a bag of candy. And I’m wondering if this will take my career in a new direction. Freelance social media professional? Sounds good to me!
