Does that sound harsh? Ok, maybe a little but it’s true and I’ll tell you why.
Feedburner makes it easy for anyone to subscribe to a blog with any type of feed reader or by email. It’s simple and fast and there is no copy and pasting.
If I come across a blog and it has decent content there is a good chance I’ll subscribe to it – unless they aren’t using Feedburner. When I subscribe to a blog that has Feedburner installed it is a couple of simple clicks. If I have to copy and paste a feed I might not bother with it unless it is a blog I really, really loved.
Before I tell you about some of the other great things Feedburner can do, watch this video from Ms. Ileane of Basic Blog Tips (and do check out her blog for more great stuff!):
Now, why else should you use Feedburner for all your RSS feeds?
- FeedFlare allows you to add links at the bottom of your RSS feed so people can automatically share the content
- You can create a Headline Animator that you can add in various places (like on other blogs you own)
- You can add an email subscription form
- You can publish automatically to your Twitter account (one of the good automatic things to do with Twitter)
- You can add Adsense to your feeds and use the opportunity to monetize the feed
- You can see how many people are subscribing to your blog, how they are subscribing, and what they are clicking on
Do you need any other reasons?
Go and burn your Feedburner RSS feed now and make sure your feeds are up to par!

Do you love the look of this blog? Want your blog to look this hot? Then I'll tell you my secret! First, the blog theme I use is Thesis. It is very customizable PLUS it is great for your on page SEO!
Second, I'm using a blog skin (strangely enough it is called Blog Skin) from Thesis Awesome.

The combination of these two great blogging tools makes it easy for me to change up the look of my blog. I have to warn you though - using Thesis may turn you into a Thesis snob! It did for me!

Hey Daniella:
Nice post here about feed burner. Good information about adding it to twitter. Never thought of it before. I have a feeling almost all blogs use feed. May be not. I have used a few feeds online, right now I only use one.
Thanks for the post

What? You don’t have to copy/paste the URL to a feed in order to subscribe to it.
What browser are you using? Firefox, Chrome or IE?
For most of the browsers, there are so-called plugins which let you subscribe to feeds with help of just one click which I’m pretty sure you’d like.
I’m not using feedburner and won’t do so either. Haven’t really found a reason to doing so just yet…
Thanks for the tip anyways, Danielle.

Hi Danielle, I have just recently used the email subscribe form from Feedburner and didn’t know about it until this week. Thanks for sharing this because I didn’t even know that you could add Adsense to the feed. I will definitely look into that in the future.

Danielle,
Feedburner does have some nice built in easy to use tools, like the automatic email. It is a great Google product.
Every blog already has a built in feed. Usually it is the name of your blog and the word feed. For example:
http://http://yourblogname.com/feed.
I have chosen not to use Feedburner for technical reasons. So I have had to find other sources for things like setting up my email. It is a little more work.

Hi Danielle,
Thanks for sharing my YouTube tutorial in this post. I’m learning so much about Feedburner and how it works for audio podcasting – and I even discovered the other day that you can burn a feed for your YouTube videos too. I guess it was there all along, but I wasn’t paying it any attention.
