Income Report #14 – December 2012

December has been a busy, busy month and even though I didn’t meet all of my goals I think I did pretty well for myself!  I’ve accomplished a lot.  Now – let’s see if my earnings reflect it!

These are the areas I’ll cover:

  1. Adsense (HostedAdsense/YouTube and Adsense for Content)
  2. Bubblews
  3. Squidoo
  4. Ebooks/Kindle
  5. Amazon
  6. Other Affiliate Programs

Goals

Before I go into the earnings let’s talk about my goals for the month of December and how well I did.

1. Adsense: make at least$26+ earnings

I didn’t reach this goal.  Not much I can do about that.

2. Youtube: create 10 new videos

Not quite.  LOL – 3 new videos made.

3. Finish novel and put up on Kindle

I’m a little short of finishing – I have about 1000-2000 words to wrap it up.  I’ll try to get that done this week!

4. A Dynamic Life: publish 12 new blog posts

Still a little short – published 10 posts

5. Squidoo Lenses: 10 new ones/ total 30 in featured status

I killed this one! 27 new lenses and I had 49 in featured status at the end of the month!  More on Squidoo to come!

6. Complete a 2013 goals list AND plan!

Done!

7. Buy a planner

Done!

8. Teach my husband ( &lmcgaw ) how to make Squidoo Lenses

Partially done.

9. Write 50 new Bubblews

Not even close.  Bubblews was down a lot.  I think I hite 15?

10. Get into a schedule!!!! No more sleeping all day!

Ummm, ya.  Not in December.  LOL

Adsense

I’ll be honest – December was just disappointing.  Not only was my earnings lower but my YouTube earnings were only 50%.

I had 3 new videos in December.  Earning from those videos were virtually nothing.

What else can I say – it was a sucky month.

Earnings were $14.44

Bubblews

I wasn’t as active on Bubblews as I intended to be.  Part of the problem was that the site was up and down all month long.  Hopefully, they really have it fixed now.

I only put up about 15 new Bubblews but I still managed to make $35.79 for the month.  Not too bad.  I’m not complaining. :)

Squidoo

Yes!  My favorite thing this month!

I managed to make 27 new lenses for the month thanks to my awesome group of girls that keep me revved up.  I made one sale from Amazon with in Squidoo for a whopping 3 cents!  As I have added more lenses and worked at promoting them I’ve seen traffic rise.  If you want real stats for Squidoo you have to get it set up on Google Analytics.  You get so much more info! For the past couple weeks I’ve been getting 25-35 search engine hits a day.  I know – not super high but I think that it is a good start.

Kindle/Smashwords

I’ve got 4 ebooks on Kindle and Smashwords.  I like having them on both because with Smashwords, as long as you do all of your formatting properly, your ebooks go up on Nook, Kobo, and other ebook sites, too.  So that means more exposure and more opportunity to earn.  I really have to figure out a way to promote my ebooks better though.  I think if I promoted better they would sell a  lot more.  Anyway, Kindle sales were $2.06 and Smashwords was #3.15 so $5.21 in total.  Small but not bad.

Amazon

I’m not getting rich off Amazon sales that’s for sure.  But I am getting more consistent results.  I made $2.85.

Other Affiliate Programs

I’ve started to work on doing some other affiliate program stuff.  I made a video for Squid Pro Quo and made my second sale in December so got paid out  $19.99.  I’ve also been working on Jaaxy but no sales there yet.

Things I Am Learning and Thinking About

I guess the main thing that I am learning is that everything else does a whole lot better than Adsense.  So, while I’m not going to quit adsense altogether, I’m not going to be focusing on it as much.  I’m going to focus more on Squidoo and Amazon and other affiliate programs.  And  the ebooks.  I have one ebook that is almost ready to go live and I am hoping it will do well!  And I am planning the next one already!

Totals:

  1. Adsense (HostedAdsense/YouTube and Adsense for Content) – $14.44
  2. Bubblews – $35.79
  3. Squidoo – n/a
  4. Ebooks/Kindle – $5.21
  5. Amazon – $2.85
  6. Other Affiliate Programs – $19.99

Grand total: $78.28

Danielle! You did awesome.. and the BEST part of it all was that you are building RESIDUAL income.. So it will residually grow! You are doing great!!

Vroom! Keep that engine revved! You are doing awesome and as aforementioned, the best part it is residual income! Many of us tend to get stuck in upfront jobs (though nothing wrong with that) and have issues getting around to that realm of writing! I look forward to a report in January! Your enthusiasm is infectious!

I saved this so I could come back to read it. I loved it. I too get frustrated when I don’t reach a goal. I wish there were 48 hours each day.

    Interesting statistic. Thanks for sharing.

Great post!! I have found working online for 12+ years now that if I spread myself too thin I tend to not get much of anything done so I focus on business and maybe one or two things on the side. Since I have an online store of sorts (all digital products) it’s easier for me, having to keep up with updating the site and adding stuff to the store. I do pretty will with Adsense so no complaints there though I am sure it could be better. Thank you for your detailed monthly earnings and goals! It really does help when you spell it all out like you have.
