Continuing on the theme of eating and fueling our bodies when we work at home I want to talk about things we drink for a minute.

Ok – I know, coffee is likely on the top of your list.  It’s on mine.  I don’t start my day off without my cuppa joe!  It might be tea for you but either way we all know we can’t live of coffee and tea alone.

One of the reasons for this is that coffee and tea in large quantities can severely dehydrate us.  That’s not good.  When we get dehydrated, one of the first things to stop working at full capacity is our brains.  We need to stay hydrated if we want our bodies to function well!

So, try to add in some other drinks throughout the day.

Water should obviously be your first choice.  It will hydrate you faster than any other kind of drink.  It’s hard to remember sometimes but water is your friend.

That being said, I know not everyone loves water like I do.  So what else should you drink?

There are many choices for beverages but keep these things in mind:

  • watch your sugar content
  • watch your sugar substitute content
  • watch your chemical content

Juices and pops might seem like a good choice to quench your thirst at the time but they aren’t the best choice for your body.

If you really don’t like water that much consider some of the flavored water options.  Or health drinks can be a good choice, too.  Just make sure you read the labels first!  If there are too many ingredients that you can’t pronounce steer clear.

Stay hydrated and healthy!
