Progress is good. And I feel like I’ve been making a lot of that lately. I’ve signed on for some content sites to fill in the blanks when I don’t have other writing to work on (which hasn’t been an issue lately) and I’m hoping they all go well. Here are my new sites to work with:
- Quality Gal – I’m doing the test article for them this weekend. One of the things that I love about them so far is the help that Heather has given me. Since I’m Canadian I had no clue what to do with that W9 form! But she was really patient and quickly responded to my emails. I think they will be a little more time consuming than other sites because you have to include a load of links and I’m not used to that. But, I have done lots of research and I know how to find relevant sources so I think I should be fine.
- Internet Brands – this one has been a little bit more difficult to get going with but I really wanted to get on with them because I’ve heard a lot of writers really like them. And they have lots of work. So, I got on and have selected my first article. I just need time to do it. The only thing I don’t like so far is that I’ve sent out multiple emails to my editor and gotten NO responses. I’m hoping that will change in the future. But I have someone else that has been writing with them for a long time that will likely be happy to answer my questions. I hope she is anyway!
- The Content Authority – I am quite liking them so far. Quick responses to questions and super easy to work in their writing section. Articles are easy to write and I got promoted to Tier 2 as soon as I finished my first 5 articles. Good thing though. The one slightly negative aspect of this site is that the pay starts fairly low. But if I keep moving up as quick as I did on the first Tier I’ll be ok with that.
I’m also still working on my big corporate project, which brings in a lot of money so that one will always be my first priority. I really want to keep that! And I have one private client that seems to really like my writing and has come back for more several times now. She’s actually a writer as well and outsources work on occasion.
I’m finding myself in a position where I know that if I wanted to quit my day job or if something happened and I lost my job I would really be ok. More ok than I thought was possible. But I don’t think I want to leave. I like that I have regular income and I like the benefits (medical, dental, etc.). I have two teenagers at home and my income is the prime source so I don’t want to give the day job up at this point. It’s only 25 hours a week and that leaves me lots of time for writing. The other thing is that I’m kind of excited about the potentials that are coming up. I know that for a lot of people (one of them a close friend) it’s not working out so well, and I feel bad for her but I think that for me it is not going to be a negative.
Oh – and Hootsuite still rocks!

I like content authority a lot. The site is easy to navigate. Have you tried Textbroker? I like them too but the site isn’t as easy to navigate. I seem to be able to write faster with content authority.
Of course the end goal is to not even need these sites but it is a work in progress.

I seem to remember that Textbroker only takes US citizens and since I’m Canadian I can’t apply. Am I wrong or should I go check it again?
