I’m sure – well, I hope – that more than a few of you have been wondering that. It’s been…a month?…since I last posted something new. And you know – it isn’t because I didn’t want to. Ideas came to me in the middle of the night, I’ve got loads of notes jotted down and files with things that I want to remember.
But you can’t do everything at once and I’ve had two projects that I’ve been working on that has put some of my other things on the back burner.
One of the things I have been working on is my first e-book. It’s not a social media e-book though. I have a niche site on anxiety and panic disorders and I decided that it was time to come out with my first product for that site. I don’t want to inflate the traffic to that site by putting a link here though, so if this is a topic that is of interest to you or if you have a site that is on a similar topic and would like to be an affiliate of my ebook, please use the Comment form to send me a message and I will send you the info you need. The book is done, the e-book cover is made. I just need to work up a sales page and some promo material and it will be ready to go.
The other thing that I’ve been doing is some experimentation with residual income. Which is where that niche site came in. I have three niche sites but they haven’t had a lot of attention from me lately. So I’ve been building up some content on them, building some backlinks, building some linkwheels, and generally getting them moving. They are doing better now and I’m getting into more of a routine.
You know, I actually got so busy that I decided that I was not going to take any more writing work for private clients unless someone contacted me and was willing to pay a higher price than I usually ask. Well, wouldn’t you know, 3 days later, someone did contact me and was happy to pay what I am worth. No questions asked. It was fabulous. Everything was worked out in a matter of days. I’ve also gotten permission from another client to outsource some lower paying work – I had to in order to be able to dedicate more time to my residual earnings projects.
You might be thinking, “Why is she telling us all this stuff? What does this have to do with social media or freelancing?”
Well, my dear friends, the reason is because I want you to understand that most people who work online these days have more than one source of income. Most people do a few different things that work for them. And to me, that is one of the greatest things about working online. You can do some private client work plus run your own blogs and sites and you can do some residual income work in there, too. It’s completely up to you. Your the boss – so what do you want to do?

Thanks Sherrie. A lot of stuff is new to me but that is how you learn right – by doing and then learning from what you’ve done and making it better!

Way to go, Danielle!
I’m so pleased to hear about all the things you’ve been working on lately. Let’s face it … I’m a gal who loves to take a peek behind the scenes.
Congrats on writing your first e-book! I’ll be honest — I had no idea you had expertise in the arena of anxiety and panic disorders. Go figure. It’s really true about life … You learn something new every day.
Sounds like you’re doing great in the money-making end of things. Hooray!! Well deserved. And it’s about time you get paid what you’re worth.
BTW, if you happen to know anyone who’s in need of a proofreader, PLEASE let me know, okay? This kid is looking for work!

Danielle,
Good to see you back.
Isn’t it interesting how it works. You made the decision to up your price and let someone come to you for your service and voila`.
Congrats on your new ebook.
I have been busy off line too. I started building Websites for local business owners and before I even got our site up we have clients.
I have also been learning about mobile websites and mobile marketing. I want to expand what I can do for my local clients as a selling point.
It is a little tough when you start to expand there seems to be a period of too much to do and then it settles down again…or at least I am hoping it does.

I’ve actually been working on something locally too. Our town is really small and most business owners don’t have the time or the knowledge to build up a Facebook presence or build a blog and get traffic. So, instead, I’m building up a central blog where they can hire me to write blog posts for them or they can just advertise. They can buy a package or just one post. And of course, it gives them access to an exclusive group of people that have signed up to have access to information and offers from local businesses. When I really get it running and start showing some results I think I am going to put together a site to teach others how to do it, too.

Oooh … this sounds fascinating, Danielle! And I can’t wait for you to start teaching others how to create a central blog for local business owners. You’re on to something GOOD!

I think so too Melanie. I think when you live in a city it is a little bit easier to convince people that they need to be online. If their business is a physical location they have more reason to spread the word online. But when you have a physical business in a small town, people already know who you are. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t competition. So, my focus is on providing value so that people will be more likely to buy things.
This sounds like a really cool idea. Good luck with it, Danielle!

Hi Danielle,
I like to work on many things rather than on a single project. It makes me more versatile and capable.
I would love to have your site’s link of anxiety and panic.

Hi,Danielle,
I understand that people who work online usually have more than one source of income. Hence, it is hard to always give the same attention to all jobs at the same time. I also prefer to spread my work around a little bit. It is good for creativity and constant learning. Sticking to just one kind of job makes us robots. You have my support in whatever you are doing, and I hope you can manage it all.
Congratulations for your E-book!

Hi Danielle,
I did wonder where you’d been, so I went looking … and discovered some of your other neat activities. (You actually gave me some ideas!)
Wonderful idea to write a “where have I been post.” I have other activities and offline client work that sometimes keeps me busy, so at times posting suffers on my business blog. At one time, I did a similar post (5 Tech Escapades) when I couldn’t seem to make time to write on the blog.
Kudos to you for carving out the time to create your own product. I’ve added you to my feed reader so I can keep up with you!

Danielle, Congratulations. One day, even I want to see my name on one those bestsellers.
You are absolutely right. There is no dearth of different types of jobs that interest you. Just lift up from those cushions, decide what you want, search and start earning.
